Kacey Vanderkarr’s “Stepping Stones”

Kacey Vanderkarr’s first book of her new Stone series, Stepping Stones, is another step forward. Kacey’s stories are classic paranormal romances with a twist. She has a way of making you feel so many emotions in just one chapter. I have to say this particular story hit home with me personally because of my own life. It is tragic watching as Onna’s family disintegrates. Kacey’s unique paranormal aspect adds a richness to the story. Providing small amounts of humor with her character Hunter helps to fully ground the story. I truly recommend the story! \

Poison Tree Review!

I just finished reading Kacey Vanderkarr’s second book in her Reflection Pond series, Poison Tree (forewarning mild spoiling ahead). I love watching Kacey grow as a writer. This is my favorite of her books I’ve read so far (I say that every time, but she outdoes herself every time)! I love how her characters have grown in this second installment. For example, many writers use torture to breakdown their characters, and then take forever for them to rebuild them again. Kacey did this differently. She used the torture and past pain to reaffirm and grow both of her main characters Callie and Rowan. I love the uniqueness of this characterization! She also added beautifully to a well created fantasy with new characters and new settings. Sometimes when characters are added they seem forced and don’t fit in, but this is not in Poison Tree. The new characters add to story and are intricately weaved in to the plot. It’s a great second part to a sweet, intense fantasy series. Well done Kacey and I can’t wait for the next part of the series!

Any hope of finding normalcy vanishes when her mother runs off and her dad turns to booze to numb his pain. Onna’s grief is crippling, but the boy who showed up just when she needed him is helping her cope.

Everett’s presence is comforting, though he knows things—Onna’s name just before they met, where she lives, and sometimes he comments on thoughts she doesn’t say aloud. She pegs him for a stalker, or maybe psychic, but the truth is deadlier than she imagines. As their feelings for one another deepen, Everett confesses a…

YES, YOU CAN

A great pep talk for everyone!

Kacey Vanderkarr

Let’s be honest. It’s a rarity to find someone who LOVES work. It sucks. It’s hard. We’d rather be watching reruns of Vampire Diaries and eating ice cream than working. Lately I’ve been struck by how much people expect when they’re willing to give SO LITTLE, be it time, effort, money, thought.

Say it with me: Life does not owe me a hand out simply because I’m alive.

Welcome to my pep talk. It’s as much for you as it is for me, and it’s not going to be pretty.

I hate work as much as the next person. I hate the overwhelming dread that accompanies a big project. I hate setbacks and missed deadlines and that horrible feeling in your gut that you’ll never be DONE. We’ve all been there. We all want something, be it to write a novel, lose weight, save enough money to buy a house…

Book Review: Kacey Vanderkarr – Antithesis

I finished Kacey Vanderkarr’s  Antithesis, and I loved it! It is a classic fantasy romance with unique twists. The plot of the book is distinctive but not overwhelming. The character development is fantastic and  the many worlds keep you engrossed and engaged without confusing or loosing you. I would recommend this book to anyone, but especially YA fantasy romance enthusiasts. Also Kacey has another book Reflection Pond that everyone should check out. I haven’t gotten a chance to read it but I know it is just as fantastic. To check her blog and her writing you can go here.

Sometimes you find home, sometimes it comes looking for you.

Callie knows a lot more about pain than she does about family. She’s never belonged, at least, not until she falls through a portal into her true home. The beautiful faerie city of Eirensae doesn’t come free. Callie must find her amulet and bind herself to the city, and most importantly, avoid the Fallen fae who seek her life. Seems like a small price to pay for the family she’s always wanted.

Then she meets cynical and gorgeous Rowan, who reads the darkness of her past in her eyes. He becomes Callie’s part-time protector and full-time pain in the ass. He has secrets of his own for Callie to unravel. What they don’t know is that the future of…
